"My wife and I would like to convey our sincere thanks to you for all your hard work and planning in the lead up to the birth of our son Archie. We know there were a number of staff who were involved in the planning but we wanted, in particular, to send our thanks to Chief Inspector Alan Sproston who played a key role in the emergency response planning. It was immensely reassuring to know that we had your support throughout. Thank you so much for your cooperation and assistance during this important time for our family."

About Alan Sproston

Alan has held leadership positions in the public and private sectors, in various locations across the UK.  He has spent much of his career building and leading teams through some of the most volatile, uncertain, complicated and ambiguous situations.  He has extensive experience in crisis management, and is skilled in principled negotiation and mediation.  Alan’s experience has been gained in the military, hospitality and emergency services, at both operational and senior leadership levels.

Alan uses and advocates a values-based, transformational leadership style to build safe and trusting environments.  He strives to empower staff to try new and innovative ideas, which is an absolute necessity in an age of cyber technology.  Alan has lead organisations through some of the most challenging change programmes, where service and performance improvement were critical.

Delivering first class training, coaching and mentoring has been a long-term goal for Alan and he gets great satisfaction when he sees clients develop and reach their potential.  Alan has been totally committed to improving departments in which he has worked through the implementation of workplace resolution and mediation systems.  He has worked tirelessly to reduce workplace conflict, by addressing underlying feelings and needs and reducing the need for protracted and costly arbitration.

Away from the workplace Alan enjoys reading, physical fitness and mindfulness.  He volunteers at a local residents’ group and conducts their negotiations and mediations when required.  Alan also enjoys going on long walks, trips to the theatre and socialising with his partner Tina to whom he has been married for thirty two happy years.
